According to her son John Schaff, Jr., Angie originally desired to be an archaeologist. However, she was persuaded and/or decided to pursue nursing which was a more traditional female occupation at the time.

The early years from 1867 - 1969. Gerhard Schumacher was born in 1876 and died on March 30, 1969 at the age of 92. This blog has photos from his life and the lives of his family. This blog is in process and more photos and photo descriptions will be added. Blog started December 5, 2009 as an offshoot from Gerhard's original blog to facilitate viewing of early photos. This blog was compiled by Daniel D. O'Hara (formerly Harn), Gerhard's grandson.
