Gerhard Schumacher and Clara Wise were married at the Catholic Church in Burkey, ND on November 24, 1919. Gerhard was 43 and Clara was 23. According to Pearl Yates Olstad (Clara's niece), she remembered being at the wedding and watching Clara getting prepared for the wedding in Burkey.
