According to John Schumacher (Gerhard's son), Gerhard and Clara retired to Bismarck, ND in about 1946. They lived in this house, 601 16th St., from 1946-1961 except for a time back at the Golva farm. In 1961 they moved to Billings to be close to their two daughters.
